At Sparkle Tutoring, we provide virtual tutoring services that support students in the areas of basic decoding (reading) skills, reading fluency, reading comprehension, math, and writing.
This is a free 30 minute session where our team meets your student with the purpose of building a genuine relationship. Our tutors use this session to have an informal conversation to learn about your student's interests, strengths, hobbies, and passions outside of school. If your child is a talented hula-hooper… we want to see it during this session! Actually.. Hula hooping is ALWAYS welcome during any session with us!
Your child’s strengths and interests will drive the future tutoring sessions as our tutors incorporate their passions into each session to increase engagement and confidence!
During these sessions, our tutors use Orton-Gillingham-based strategies to support your student with phonemic awareness, basic decoding, reading words with multi-syllables, and spelling support. Students will learn reading and spelling strategies through a multi-sensory approach (yes... we still use shaving cream, finger paint, and sand with students even virtually!)
What is your child interested in? We will practice a variety of research-based reading comprehension strategies while integrating your child’s interests. Not only does this increase engagement, but it also improves their reading comprehension skills across different types of texts!
Math is fun.. And our tutors make math even MORE fun! Our team of tutors have classroom and tutoring experience ranging from Kindergarten through 12th grade math standards. We will match a tutor to best meet the needs of your child.
Our tutors provide support for students ranging from generating ideas, assisting with how to get all of their amazing thoughts down on paper, sentence structures, paragraph formation, and just building their overall confidence that they’ve actually got this writing thing down!
Does your child need support with planning skills, time management, self-monitoring, and/or organization skills? We got you! Our team works with the classroom teachers to best support the needs of students that we support.
We assist students with getting prepared for tests and quizzes, large projects, and homework assignments, and helping students to break apart their work into small, manageable pieces.
